Mike Shumann | Development and Outreach Coordinator

michael@leaphousing.org

My main responsibilities as Development and Outreach Coordinator are…

To seek donations from generous people so LEAP can do the work that we do. Individuals, foundations, corporations, social organizations, you name it – I’m happy to talk to anyone who wants to support affordable housing in Idaho. I also keep our donors informed about the work that we’re doing and how important it is to Idaho.

When I’m not working I am…

Playing bass in a rock band, riding my bike, playing guitar while my wife sings, kayaking, or (trying) to train our young cattle dog mix.

I’m in nonprofit, and specifically inspired by LEAP because…

I stumbled into nonprofit work more than 20 years ago, and I’ve liked it so much I’ve never left. After all that time, LEAP is inspiring because housing is a basic human need, and the costs of it in Idaho really do affect the quality of life we have. Working for LEAP as we directly tackle the housing crisis is one way I can contribute to Idaho, which has been very good to me personally.

My main responsibilities as the summer ceo…

When I’m not in school, I help out anyone who needs it. I’m also working on affordable housing slide presentations.

When I’m not at leap I am…

Playing the piano, playing outside or playing with my family.

I’m in nonprofit, and specifically inspired by LEAP because…

They help people and I feel like I should help them. It would be nice for me to join because I am the greatest LEAP fan of all time.
