VOLUNTEER

If you stop by our office, the first thing you’ll see is a wall with signage that reads “Love and Good Deeds”. By volunteering with LEAP, you can do both!

Our approach to housing is community-based. The housing is created by the community, for the community. We all have unique skills we can use to benefit the community we care so deeply for. It wouldn’t be justice if we failed to mention and thank the countless individuals who have volunteered their time to help LEAP reach where we are today. Throughout the years volunteers have shaped who we have become, for the ultimate benefit of the community. Some examples of past volunteer activities include:

Boy Scout Troop #49: Our local boy scout troop decided that they wanted to participate in a service opportunity with LEAP by painting the new sheds that were placed at Windy Court. Over several weeks, they successfully painted the sheds with several coats while having a blast together!

Boise Metro Rotary Club: While we were finishing up the second phase of Windy Court, Boise Metro Rotary reached out and wanted to lend a helping hand to get us across the finish line. Together, we were able to finish the garden boxes which will hold organic fruits and vegetables for future residents.

Youth With A Mission (YWAM) Idaho: Our Welcome Housing program always has a need for community members to get involved and help out. YWAM stepped up to the plate and helped us renovate one of the LEAP owned condos, while at the same time building relationships with the residents there.

Your voice is an asset, and we encourage you to use it to support affordable housing, whether it is a LEAP project or something else.

Your voice is the vehicle for change in our community.

  • Spread the word: Spreading the word can be as easy as a discussion at the dinner table with friends and family, or even a quick share of one of our social media posts.

  • Connect like-minded people: Introduce us to those who have a burning passion for contributing to our community in tangible ways, to see our dream come true.

  • Testify in front of City Council or Planning and Zoning: For us to realize our goals as a community, we have to speak out and inform our local leaders who make important decisions for our future.

You may not know how, or feel comfortable with advocating for our community. That’s okay! No matter what your experience is in advocating for affordable housing, you can make a difference.
Send a message to info@leaphousing.org, and we will get you connected with advocacy resources to make your voice heard, or to get connected with volunteer opportunities. To stay up to date on all advocacy opportunities, sign up for our newsletter!
